Root Xiaomi Mi A3
Here are the two methods that you can use to root Xiaomi Mi A3 of which one is using Magisk Stock Boot Image i.e. Without TWRP Recovery and the other is using TWRP Recovery.

For Global Variant –

Prerequisites –
- Take a complete backup of your device data since rooting will wipe out all of your phone data.
- Have at least 60% charging on your Mi A3.
- Enable OEM Unlocking on Xiaomi Mi A3.
- Unlock Bootloader of Xiaomi Mi A3.
- Download ADB and Fastboot latest binaries. (For Method 1) Or you could also download the latest Minimal ADB and Fastboot tools.
- Download the latest TWRP for Mi A3.

Root Mi A3 with Magisk Patched Boot Image (W/O TWRP)
If you do not want to install TWRP Recovery, then this is the method that you can follow. Here we will root Mi A3 using Magisk Patched boot image using Fastboot.
Step 1. To start with, download Stock Boot image for Xiaomi Mi A3 from the links given above.
Step 2. Now move the file you just downloaded to the storage of your Mi A3.
Step 3. Download and Install Magisk Manager Apk latest version.
Step 4. When installed, launch the Magisk manager and press the Install option.
Step 5. Then choose the option of – ‘Select and Patch a file’.
Step 6. Go to the internal storage of your device and choose Stock Boot Image file.
Step 7. Now the stock boot image of your Mi A3 will be patched by Magisk Manager.
Step 8. Magisk Patched Boot Image (magisk_patched.img) file will be stored in the ‘Download’ folder of the internal storage of your Mi A3.
Step 9. Now launch the command-line window PowerShell in Windows or Terminal in macOS or Linux.
Step 10. To do so, go to the folder on your PC where you have installed the ADB and Fastboot binaries. Then press the Shift key and along with that right-click on the empty space in the folder and from the menu that pops up, choose ‘ Open PowerShell Window Here’.
And for the Linux or Mac users, simply open the Terminal window and “cd” to the folder where ADB and Fastboot are installed. For example – cd Documents/platform-tools.
Note – Make sure to execute Fastboot or ADB Commands by prepending them with ‘.’ in Windows PowerShell and ‘./’ in Mac or Linux Command Terminal.
Step 10. Now type the below command to take the ‘magisk_patched.img’ file from phone to the PC –
adb pull /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched.img
Step 11. Switch off your Mi A3 and then boot it into Fastboot Mode.
Step 12. Using USB Cables, connect Mi A3 to the PC.
Step 13. Type the below command for flashing Magisk Patched Boot Image and then root Xiaomi Mi A3 –
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
Step 14. When the flashing is done with, type the below command so as to reboot the phone back into the OS –
fastboot continue
That’s how easy it was to root Xiaomi Mi A3 without using TWRP Recovery. But in case you are willing to use TWRP Recovery to root Xiaomi Mi A3, here goes the second method –
Root Xiaomi Mi A3 using TWRP Recovery
To root Xiaomi Mi A3 you can install the TWRP Recovery.
Step 1. To begin with, download Magisk Installer package latest version.
Step 2. Now connect Xiaomi Mi A3 to PC via USB Cables.
Step 3. Then copy the Magisk Installer package from PC to the Internal storage of your Mi A3.
Step 4. Once copied, disconnect Mi A3 from PC and then switch it off.
Step 5. Now boot Xiaomi Mi A3 into TWRP Recovery Mode.
Step 6. Then in the TWRP Menu, choose ‘Install’.
Step 7. Go to the internal storage of your device and choose Magisk Installer Package.
Step 8. Now ‘Swipe to Confirm Flash’ so as to flash the package and finally root Xiaomi Mi A3.
Lastly, when the flashing is done, tap on the ‘Reboot System’ option.
