Although Xiaomi has always been consistent and up to the mark in case of updates, still the Xiaomi Redmi Y2, which is also called as Redmi S2 in China has been a disappointment in the case of Software updates. Despite of so many efforts that Xiaomi put, the Redmi Y2 Users are having a hard time with the device.
As per the convention, Redmi Y2 was supposed to get at least one major Android OS Upgrade program. Though this major update was pushed for the device, it has come with more downgrades and failures. This went to such a height that Xiaomi had to actually stop the initial Pie rollout in home country after knowing that it was rolled accidentally.
Later the stable Pie update was released as MIUI 10.3.3.0. However, the Global Redmi Y2, at this time, was experiencing an uncertain period of awaiting. It was until the last month that the Y2 users had to wait in order to receive the Android 9.0 Pie MIUI 10.3.3.0 OTA Update. The changelog for this update included performance enhancements, bug fixes, and some Pie inspired features.
It was a few days ago that the Global (Indian) variant started to receive the new MIUI 10.3.4.0 Update. Here is a shared screenshot –
Although this update was meant to bring along some great features and enhancements, all it could do was create a heck of issues for all the users that came forward as reports from the users –
“System launcher force closes every time while closing an app Or minimizing an app.”
Well in case of the System Launcher, it is said by many users that reverting back to the System launcher from 3rd-party launchers could help in solving the issue of System launcher constantly force closing or restarting every time closing or minimizing an application.
However, this is not the only issue at hand. There are reports of a number of other errors faced by the users that include poor management of RAM, Slow internet speed or Poor network connectivity, excessive battery drainage, force closing of Background apps and so on. Have a look –
This update has many bugs…!!
1. Ram management is very poor. We can’t switch one app to another app. It crashes every time. This is the main problem for multitasking.
2. Battery is draining very quickly.
3. Clock widget has an issue of loading sometimes.
Right now, Xiaomi is yet to roll out an update to fix the bugs from MIUI 10 update. A temporary workaround could be restarting the device. But it won’t last long. We can noe just hope that the new update will solve the issues.
Stay tuned for more updates.
Happy Androiding 🙂
Basically a gamer, I tend to find Android so amusing that ended up creating a blog where I could share with you all that i am aware of and could be. Passion overtook me to an extent that I decided to be a full time technology blogger. Besides gaming, eating sleeping and Androiding is what keeps me going!
