WhatsApp never stops amusing its user. Every update brings a feature worth noticing. This is one of the reasons users are not bored of using this app for years now.
Recently Whatsapp was working on a feature, not Dark mode or Night mode but the Authentication i.e. Screen lock or Fingerprint sensor for WhatsApp. The dark mode has to still wait.
However, WhatsApp is rolling out the Fingerprint lock feature for Android beta users today! The screen lock feature for WhatsApp was released for the iOS beta users over 3 months ago. And today finally after a wait of 3 months, the Android Beta users with Android Marshmallow or above version will be receiving the fingerprint lock.
Here are a few things that one will have to consider in order to use the WhatsApp Fingerprint sensor.
- Update your WhatsApp to 2.19.221 Android beta version to use the Fingerprint lock feature.
- In case you do not receive the features, you can simply take a backup of your WhatsApp chat and then uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp.
- To enable the screen lock by Fingerprint, you will have to open WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy. Here you can find a new option called Fingerprint lock.
Once the Fingerprint lock is enabled, one can easily reply to WhatsApp messages from the Notification bar and send them as well. So because the Fingerprint lock works only when the app is opened.
The WhatsApp has included an option along with this feature. WhatsApp now offers the possibility to choose when the user has to authenticate his identity in order to use the app.
If you do not use WhatsApp very often, you can choose the option of ‘Immediately’. But this will become very annoying if you use WhatsApp regularly as you will be asked to provide the fingerprint every time you open WhatsApp.
Another major feature is that you can choose if you want the notifications to be shown or hidden. This is a huge step considering Privacy of WhatsApp users.
