We all are very well aware of the currently prevailing Covid-19 crisis and pandemic causing worldwide lockdowns. Another example could be the Unavailability of Xbox One, due to allegedly high demand but we cannot scrap off the fact that this could he purposely done to boost the demand for and make some space for The upcoming Xbox Series X and Xbox Lockhart.

Whatever the case with Microsoft is right now, the fact that demands for video gaming is increasing in the Pandemic cant be denied. This is further clarified by the tweet from NDP Group Project which says –

JUNE 2020 US NPD THREAD – June 2020 tracked spending across Video Game hardware, software, accessories and game cards totaled $1.2 billion, gaining 26% when compared to a year ago. This is the highest tracked spend for a June month since $1.3 billion was reached in June 2009.

Although it hasn’t been mentioned anywhere, it is very much obvious that the major contributing factor for this record is Covid-19 Global Pandemic.

However, the significant rise in the demand for video game accessories, hardware, software, and so on has peaked also due to the introduction of various models like  Xbox Series X from Microsoft as well as Sony PlayStation 5.

Another tweet from the same person read –

US NPD VG – Year-to-date tracked spending across Video Game hardware, software, accessories and game cards reached $6.6 billion, an increase of 19% when compared to a year ago. This is the highest total for the year-to-date period since $7.0 billion was achieved in 2010.

All in all, the graph has hit the highest in the last 10 years and this certainly is a boost for the game manufacturing industry. This scenario is even before the launch of Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, hence it will certainly be noteworthy to see what happens after the launch of one of the most popular Gaming Consoles!
