Motorola, one of the most popular mobile phone brands is a great competitor to its opponents. With the fame of Snapdragon 625, many smart phone OEMs decided to have it for their devices. Why would then Motorola lag behind. Even they chose the Snapdragon 625 SoC s for their Moto Z Play variant.
The later device i.e. the Moto Z2 Play was made with Snapdragon 626. However, there is just a slight difference in S626 and SD625 in being overclocked. The Play series from Motorola offer expansion and are affordable as well.
But the device did not get any other updates than Nougat to Android Oreo. The play devices were expected to receive the Android Pie update and even the official announcement backed it up. Finally the Verizon Moto Z4 got the August security update.

I’m now on August 1, 2019 security patch (previously May 2019)
Fingerprint sensor is tons faster. I don’t know if I didn’t see this before, but you now have “Animation Styles” for the fingerprint “button”. More colors, and they seem to help immensely.
