Qualcomm had announced the launch of the latest and most powerful gaming chip – Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus. Asus as well as Lenovo have confirmed that their upcoming devices will support this latest SoC.
Qualcomm Chipsets are indeed the best ones in the market as of now. The Chipset by which is a device is powered says a lot about the devices and basically determines its fate. Qualcomm Chipsets have been successful in enhancing the overall use of Android phones that support this chipset.
Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets offer some great features as well as stability to the user. The Flagship Qualcomm chipset is now getting a mid-Enhanced Variant by the name – Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G.
Snapdragon Plus 865 is nothing but the updated version of flagship chipset – Snapdragon 865. Just like Snapdragon 855 was later on updated to Snapdragon 855 Plus. However, here’s what’s new in the Snapdragon 865 Plus as compared to its predecessor-
What’s new in Snapdragon 865 Plus?
- The Adreno 650 GPU now offers 10 percent faster graphics rendering.
- Kryo 585 CPU has had its clock speed enhanced up to a maximum of 3.1GHz, Prime CPU core has now jumped from 2.84GHz to 3.1GHz, breaking the 3GHz barrier thus is 10 percent higher than the standard Snapdragon 865 chipset.
- The new compatibility for Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6900 connectivity suite supports Wi-Fi speeds up to 3.6Gbps.
All in all, these additions and enhancements have made Snapdragon 865 Plus, the most powerful Gaming chipset as of now. This chipset will basically boost up the performance by 10% on AI apps and for gaming too!
With all the above additions, users will also have the standard 865 advantages like 8K Video Recording, 5G support, Quick Charge 4 Plus, 144Hz refresh rates, and support for 200MP stills.
Snapdragon 865 Plus is expected to launch in Q3 of 2020 and already it has been stated by Asus and Lenovo that the latest Mid Snapdragon Plus variant will be featuring in their upcoming Rog Phone 3 and Rumored Legion Gaming phone.
Here’s the official statement made by Lenevo on the inclusion of Snapdragon 865 Plus on its upcoming flagship device –
“Three years after the launch of the Lenovo LegionTM PC portfolio, we’re bringing our beloved gaming sub-brand’s core values of speed and powerful performance to 5G mobile gaming – where Lenovo Legion will be amongst the first to offer the new Snapdragon 865 Plus in our expanding family of gaming devices this year. Lenovo has a long history of co-engineering amazing consumer experiences with Qualcomm Technologies and we can’t wait to share more soon.”
Here’s what the General Manager of Smartphone Business unit of Asus, Bryan Chang, had to say in the official statement announcing Snapdragon 865 Plus for its upcoming Rog III phone–
“ASUS is excited to once again offer users the best possible mobile gaming experience with the next generation ROG Phone 3, which will be powered by the new Snapdragon 865 Plus Mobile Platform. Full specifications for the ROG Phone 3 will be announced in the coming weeks, but the addition of the Snapdragon 865 Plus ensures that the overall performance will take yet another leap forward.”
All in all, the modification of Snapdragon 865 into Snapdragon 865 Plus seems to be very similar to The modification of Snapdragon 855 to its Plus variant. There have been key changes in the GPU and CPU.
