Update OnePlus 7/7 Pro to Oxygen OS 10.3.0

One can update their OnePlus 7/7 Pro using the OTA Update which is released to the phone by the manufacturer, over-the-air. For this, all you need to do is go to Settings>System Updates > Check for OTA updates. If the update is available, it will automatically download and install the update.

However, if you are not patient enough to wait for the update to roll out on your device, you can also download the OTA Update from the links mentioned above and then install it with the help of methods mentioned below –

Prerequisites –

  • OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro, of course.
  • Reliable Internet or WiFi connection.
  • At least 60% of the charging of your battery.
  • Check that your device has at least 3GB of storage.
  • Do not forget taking a complete backup of your Android phone.
  • Download the OxygenOS 10.3.0 OTA Update build from the links mentioned above as per your device.
  • Install Android SDK Platform Tools, or you can also go for Minimal ADB and Fastboot Tools.

Assuming that you have followed all the above requirements, here are the three methods that one can use to update their OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro to the latest OxygenOS 10.3.0 OTA Update.

Local Upgrade Method (Without PC)

    1. To begin with, download the latest Oxygen OS 10.3.0 OTA Update from the links mentioned above.
    2. Move the above ROM file to the internal storage of your device.
    3. Place this zip file outside every folder.
    4. Follow this path – Settings app> System updates> Tap on the top right settings icon > choose Local Upgrade option.
    5. Now the Local Upgrade option will search for an upgrade package.
    6. When you come across an upgrade package, click on it and then press the install option.
    7. The installation process will begin.

Once the installation is finished, your device will then automatically reboot. It might take a few seconds or minutes for the first boot.

For devices on Android Developer Preview

    2. Move the above ROM file to the internal storage of your device.
    3. Place the zip file outside every folder.
    4. Visit the Settings app> System updates> Tap on the top right settings icon > choose Local Upgrade option.
    5. Local Upgrade will search for an upgrade package.
    6. When you come across an upgrade package, click on it and then press the install option.
    7. The installation process will begin. Be patient until then.
    8. Now press the power button of your device and choose ‘Power Off’ from the menu that appears.
    9. Then boot your OnePlus device into Recovery Mode. To do so, just press and hold down the Volume Down and Power Button together.
    10. Now perform a Factory Reset in the Recovery Mode itself by moving the selection to ‘Wipe Data/ Factory Reset.’ Click the Power button to select it.
    11. After that is done, restart your phone by selecting the ‘Reboot System Now’ option.

ADB Sideload Method

  • Download OxygenOS 10.3.0 Update for OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro.
  • Now Rename the file as as update.zip.
  • Then move it to the PC or whichever system you are using, i.e., Mac or Linux.
  • Keep in mind to have a copy of this update zip on the storage of your device or SD Card.
  • Boot your OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro into Recovery Mode. For this, switch off your device and then press and hold down the Power + Volume Up buttons together.
  • Using the USB Cables, connect your device to the PC.
  • Open Command prompt or a terminal window where you have installed the OTA Zip.
  • For this, type cmd in the search bar and then press the Enter key.
  • Now go to the ‘Device Recovery and then choose ‘Apply Updates from ADB.’
  • Go to a location where you have saved the OTA Zip file on the PC. Now flash the OTA by entering the below command – remember to put the actual filename in-between ‘< >’ and also the exact name with its proper extension. Do not use ‘< >’ in the actual command.
adb sideload <filename>.zip

For Mac users –

./adb sideload <filename>.zip

For Linux –

“Sudo ADB sideload <filename>.zip”
  • Confirm your action and wait until the update is finished.
  • Lastly, reboot your device. The Update will be installed on your device.
