Prerequisites

Install Android 11 Update on Google Pixel

Given below are 3 methods using which you can install Android 11 Update on Google Pixel-

1. Sideload Android 11 full OTA package in Stock Recovery

  • Download Android 11 Stable Update from the above links for your Google Pixel device.
  • Copy download OTA ZIP package to the ‘platform-tools’ folder on your PC, where ADB tool is installed.
  • Launch the Command Window on your PC. For this, hold the SHIFT key of the keyboard and right-click on any empty space inside the ‘platform-tools’ folder. Then choose the ‘Open PowerShell window here’ option.
  • Now  Enable USB Debugging on your device.
  • Then connect your device to the PC using USB Cables.
  • Now enter the below command in ADB –

For Windows PowerShell:

.\adb devices

For macOS/Linux Terminal:

./adb devices
  • You will now receive a unique ID of your device.
  • If any command prompt shows up, simply click on Allow.
  • Now enter the below command in ADB so as to enter Google Pixel into Stock Recovery.

For Windows PowerShell:

.\adb reboot recovery

For macOS/Linux Terminal:

./adb reboot recovery
  • Your device will now reboot.
  • Next, to enter into Stock Recovery, hold down the Power key and tap the Volume Up key.
  • Use your volume keys as navigation keys.
  • Select – Apply update from ADB. Press the power key to Confirm.
  • In order to sideload the OTA package and install Android 11 on your Google Pixel phone, enter the below command –

For Windows PowerShell:

.\adb sideload ota-filename.zip

For macOS/Linux Terminal:

./adb sideload ota-filename.zip
  • Just make sure to replace ota-filename.zip with the actual file name.
  • Wait for a few minutes until the installation is completed.
  • Once done, tap on Reboot System Now.

2. Install Android 11 build using Android Flash Tool

Android Flash tool can be used to install Android 11 updates on Google Pixel devices. The tools are browser-based and makes the entire process very simple. However, you will need to unlock the bootloader of your device to use this tool.

  • Enable Developer Option & USB Debugging on your Google Pixel device.
  • Connect your device to the PC using USB cables.
  • Now open Android Flash tool in the browser on your PC.
  • Click on Get Started.
  • Then on the pop-up message, click on “Already Installed”. 
  • When asked – “Allow site access to your ADB keys in order to communicate with devices“, click OK.
  • Now select – Add new device from the device selection and then select Google Pixel device. click on Connect.
  • Your phone screen will now prompt asking for USB debugging. just select –  “Always allow from this computer” and click ‘OK’.
  • Select your device and on the next page, you will see the Android 11 build along with your device. if you want, you can choose the options to Wipe device data and then lock Bootloader after flashing. But just make sure to not change any advanced options.
  • Recheck everything once and then click on Install and then on Confirm.

That’s it. Soon Android 11 Update will be installed on the Google Pixel device. Your device will automatically reboot after flashing and run on Android 11.

3. Flash Android 11 factory image using Fastboot

  • To begin with, download the Android 11 Factory image for the Google Pixel device.
  • Now extract this factory image using Tools like 7zip. Just note that this image should contain – flash scripts, flash-able image files of the bootloader and radio partitions, as well as a ZIP file that contains all the necessary partition images.
  • Now move theses file to a platform-tools folder, where you have installed Adb.
  • Switch off your Google Pixel device and press down the Volume Down and Power keys together. this will boot your device into Fastboot mode. 
  • Connect your device to the PC using USB Cables.
  • Lastly, flash the factory image and install the Android 11 update on your Google Pixel. For Windows, Double-click the ‘flash-all.bat’ file on your Windows PC.

Soon the flashing will begin and complete.
