Method 1. Find WiFi Password via Command Prompt

  • On your Windows, search for cmd.
  • Click on it and choose the option – Run as Administrator. 
  • The command prompt window will now appear.
  • In the command prompt, type –
netsh wlan show profiles
  • This command will show you the name of the WiFi available.
  • Now enter the below command and make sure to place the WiFi name received from the first command –
netsh wlan show profile name=”WiFi Profile Name” key=clear
  • That’s it. Once you put the WiFi name, in the above command, you will get be shown the Wifi Password in the Key Content field.

That’s how easy the first method was. However, if you are not comfortable with the command prompt, you can always use the below method.

Method 2. Find WiFi Password using Control Panel

  • In the Windows Search, Enter Control Panel. 
  • Click on the results and open Control Panel. 
  • In the Control Panel, under Network and Internet section, choose – View network status option.
  • From the left pane, click on Change adapter settings.
  • Now Double click on the Wi-Fi network to open Properties.
  • Now head to the Security tab and then check the Show characters box.
  • The Password I.e. the Network security key will be shown in plain text.
