The reasons for this cause might be relative. They range from easy-to-tackle, not proper charging port to internal or battery issue that would take you to the nearby store for a complete technological repair.
At times, the phone may not charge as it should or the charging speed may have slowed down. The power lasting capacity of your device may not remain as it was when you bought the phone. These all any many such related issues can be counted in as a problem for the phone battery.
A damaged USB Port could be one reason that your phone is not charging effectively in comparison to the time it takes. Another reason could be a third party app that you just installed and which has created some sort of havoc into your device. A software crash may be one reason for the slow charging issue. Faulty Cables or chargers or sockets or adapters can result in slower charging of your device.
Software Updates form one reason of defective charging on phones. As the new advancements come along with the new update, although a device of newer version can take it positively, the older version at times fails to meet the demands and this ultimately results in a slower rate of charging.

For your problem of the Oppo A3s not charging, here is what you can try to bring it back to normal.
1. Check if the Power Supply is On
No matter how much every foolish this might be sounding right now but trust me, especially people, in hurry, simply forget to switch their power supply on and end up in complaining that the phone has not charged since the time it was left for the same purpose.
This has happened with me like for a zillion times and I thought maybe you could relate too. Even if this does not happen with you, checking one would save your time for further processes.
2. Use Original Charging Sources
We all come across times when we do not have the charger or our device that came with the phone. And we then make use of some other device’s charger or even some duplicate cheap charger. This could cause a major harm to your Oppo A3s in all. Even if you are traveling, it is recommended to use a charger of your own and in case you use power banks, do use one that is original and safe by all means.
Duplicate chargers can only give you a bad result. Sticking to the original charger your manufacturer provided is the best thing to do.
3. Third-Party App causing hindrance in Charging
Installing a third party application may cause your Oppo A3s to gain a slower charging rate. The apps may sometimes come with some sort of virus or malware or may simply be technologically incompatible with your device and this can have a severe effect on the battery of your device.
The app may cause some internal hindrance resulting in poor charging rate. For times like this or whenever you suspect an app causing a disturbance, you can clarify and check those yourselves by booting your device into Safe Mode. With the Safe Mode on in your device, you can detect whether an app is a reason for the slower charging of your device.
You can Enter the Safe Mode on your Oppo A3s by Holding the Power Button of your device for a few seconds till the small pop-up window appears on the screen. Then hold down the Power Off option on the small window for a few seconds as well. This will introduce another confirmation box message that would read if you want to boot your phone into safe mode. Tap Ok for the Confirmation and your device will boot into Safe mode. You can know this when the device restarts and you see a sort of tag at the bottom left corner of the screen.

4. Software Update can lower the Charging Rate
When a Software Update is introduced in an older version or device, the device may be incapable of the higher demands of that improved software. This results in a slower rate of charging as compared to earlier and with time this may even become more severe.
What you can do to prevent this issue is that you can roll back the update to the older version of your device. This will in most cases solve the problem over there itself. Though it is stated that the risk of your device’s safety is enhanced without an update but the assurance of this is negligible in front of what damage it can cause to your battery and usage.
5. USB Port Fix
One of the reasons could be quite a damaged internal metallic surface of either the battery slot or the USB Port of Oppo A3s. Maybe there is not happening a good contact the charger and the port. The reason for this cause may be a minor manufacturer mistake or continuous usage of the port for charging the phone.
What you can do to fix this issue is- Shut down your device and remove the battery if your device battery is removable. You can either use the SIM card trigger or any toothpick to just slightly lever up the tab inside the USB port of your device. We may find this slightly ineffective but most times this is what needs to be done to fix the problem.
6. Battery dropped in Water
One of the most annoying situations you could have is the battery problem caused due to falling or coming in contact with water. Even though it seems that water contact did not affect it much and your phone is still working, chances might be that the battery has ruined because of the water.
For situations like this what you can try is- change the battery and use another one and also once check if the water has not harmed the USB Port or any other internal part of the device.
7. Simply Switch it off
For people working in an office or students at college do not really need mobile phones in most of the cases. Though nowadays everybody is attached to their phones like some magnet, you can switch your device off while not working on it.
I would recommend this method especially while charging your device. When you have the charger plugged in your device and there is no need to make any use of it, you can let it have a short rest. if there is something urgent that has to be done with, you can use the phone for the emergency and then again switch it off. This will ensure a better way of charging and hence keep the battery life safe.
8. Replace the Battery
This will be stupid to mention but as you know batteries have a lifetime limited to a period of a couple of years or rarely four to five. But with the increased lifespan, just as humans a certain stage in the lifetime of a battery could result in decreased efficiency of the battery to charge as it would do earlier.
Another effect happening on your battery is the intensity o charging it. The more you charge your battery the more it turns old.
At times you can know that by the bursting of the battery. Also, you can easily detect when a battery is no more reliable when you see some sort of fluid coming out of it. If you won a device whose battery is not removable, you can try spinning the phone on its backside and watch it horizontally over the surface, you will come to know if it has bulged.
If the battery has been used since two years or more, then its time you have to expel it and bring a new one. Make sure the new one is the original one as well and do not even consider buying a cheap battery to save some bucks. This is something you need to invest on for a better future usage.
9. Use Effective devices
If you are charging your Oppo A3s via the laptop then you cannot expect it to charge as fast as it does not give you any good results, universally. If you are not aware, the wall sockets deliver more power from the source than our traditional chargers which carry comparatively lesser electricity.
Hence it is essential to use a smarter source for your smartphone. If you find the traditional chargers less useful you can shift to the wall sockets. The only thing you need to keep in mind is to take the appropriate wall socket for your device. Do not just go and pick any.
10. Try Switching Cables
The cables are the most sensitive part in any charging system, to be honest. A slight damage to them and they affect your whole charging machinery. Abysmal cables can reduce the charging power by a really large quantity. Despite the endless torment of curling and cramming the cables into small places, you will notice that the cables last longer than expected every time.
Cables are for sure resistant but a continuous use of them would only make them vulnerable. Shifting in between two or three cables can give you a good battery charging rate and take care of the cables as well. The choice to choose obviously depends on your hands, but if you do follow this method you will see only good results. Provided, the cables other than the one your manufacturer provided should be of a good quality and working and the ones that are compatible with your Oppo A3s.
If you Use some poor cheap quality cables, you will end up with no good and probably bad results.
11. Clean Your Port
At times, dust or some particles may accumulate and use your USB Port a place for accommodation. For situations like this, you will have to be your own cleaner. A near look in the USB port of your Oppo A3s can help you check if there is anything to worry about. If you cannot detect anything over there simply trying out luck is the option that remains.
For the purpose of cleaning your USB port, meaning your device’s USB port, you should first switch your device off. If your phone battery is removable, you can remove it. A toothpick would do the job, grab one. Try removing if there is any sort of dirt or just lever up. Now connect the charger once you think you are done with the cleaning stuff.
This should now work and your device should charge appropriately. If the problems still persist, read the article further or try any of the above hacks.
12. Switch the Power Source
Just like we need some new place to visit or something new every now and then to keep hustling, a change in power source could work as the same for your hard-working battery.
If you are using the same charger ever since you started using your device consistently, it is high time you shift to some other source for charging even though your charger works good, there might be effects unseen to the naked eye. The charger with the regular use may have by now reduced efficiency to work. But do note that whatever other power sources you shift to, it should be reliable and original.
13. Diagnose the Adapter
When a system does not work the way it otherwise should, the cause is one of or many of its parts or organs are not working effectively or are damaged. One part of the Charging System is the Adapter. This adapter may be a reason that your phone is not charging at the pace it should otherwise.
Even if your cables are working well, the adapter may be faulty. At such a time, you should buy a new adapter of the Same Manufacturer. Any cheap or duplicate adapter will only do harm to your Oppo A3s.
14. Clean System Dump
Many times, the problems tend to be internal, most probably, a lot of stuffed memory on your device. At such times, it is essential you clean the system cache since this can reduce more than half of your problems. To perform a system cleansing, you will have to follow the steps given below on Oppo A3s:
Step 1. Open the dialer on your Oppo A3s.
Step 2. Now dial *#9900#
Step 3. Then Scroll Down and click “Low Battery Dump”.
Step 4. Click on Turn ON.
Step 5. Then do a Wipe Cache Partition. For this purpose, follow the below steps-
- Switch your Oppo A3s off.
- Press the Power Button, Home Button, and Volume Up or Volume Down Button simultaneously.
- Then release the buttons when a logo of your device with the “Recovery Booting” Message appears on the screen, at the top.
- This is nothing but the Android system Recovery Screen.
- Here you will have to perform the Cache Partition Wiping by pressing the Volume Down Button and then using the Power Button to confirm the choice.
- A notification will then appear on your screen reading- System cache has been removed.
- Further, Select the Reboot System Now option by making use of the Volume Keys and hitting the Power Button to confirm the process. Your device will now reboot.
15. Enhance Battery Life by Cleansing your Oppo A3s through Factory Reset
You can use this method to roll back a software update as well. Since factory reset would lead your Oppo A3s to what it was at the time of coming out of the factory, there will be no more Software Update persisting. Also, the major advantage of a factory reset is that you can get rid of all that unnecessary data and files once crammed into your device. All the junk will at a time within a few clicks go away from your beloved phone.
This would surely have a positive effect on battery performance and charging as well. You can take a back up of all the data you think is important and then in the factory reset it will all be cleared from your phone. Here is how you can perform the Factory Reset–
Step 1. Go to the Settings of Oppo A3s.
Step 2. In the Settings menu, search for the Backup and Reset Option and tap on it.
Step 3. Search for the Back up My Data if you wish to back up your phone data.
Step 4. Tap on Reset Device that you will see at the bottom of your phone screen.
Step 5. When you confirm that you want to reset the device to factory settings, the process for the same will be actuated and your Oppo A3s will restart soon once it is done. But do note that all the third-party applications and other data will be wiped out during this process.
This way the junk in your device will be cleared and you will notice the change reflected in its performance.
16. Damaged Phone
At times, you may experience a slow charging, not because of any external factors but due to some sort of damage in the device, most probably, internal. If a device is not running properly internally, it could result in a slower rate of charging as well. A normal screen crack would not really affect but some sort of water contact can ruin the device internally.
If the wet phone was not taken care of or dried properly, the results come out on the phone battery. This will reduce the efficiency of charging of the battery. if the phone is damaged internally, you should, in such cases, go to the nearby store and make it work again.
Precautions to Consider:
- Do not use your phone while charging. This is one of the most famous and common statements heard in case of battery life especially. All those phone users who end up carrying out battery intensive tasks while the phone is charging, you may end up discharging the battery more quickly than it is charging. That is why you find your phone charging too slowly. Social Networking, Games and videos and other such battery consuming apps and tasks which can take up a lot of battery should be avoided while charging your phone.
- Stop Background Applications: Applications that are running in the background can cause way more harm to the charging efficiency of your device than you can imagine. The lifespan of your phone, as well as battery, is greatly influenced by apps you own and these apps affect the charging of your Oppo A3s with again, more influence. This effect by these background apps has been well known by the manufacturers and also taken care of. In your Oppo A3s, you will know that the button on the bottom right of the screen opens all the applications in a sequence of their operation with an option to either swipe left or right to stop it or by simply tapping on the X.
- Restart Your Oppo A3s: Over 90% of the phone problems are healed simply by restarting the device. If you cannot suspect any such problem, then once restarting your phone may work. This will also be useful if your phone has turned unresponsive.
