Nokia 8.1 is now receiving the Android 10 OTA update. A month ago, Google officially introduced the Android 10 and now HMD has made a good move by rolling out the update on their device so quickly. Doesn’t matter even if you haven’t received the update notification yet, here is the download link of Android 10 for Nokia 8.1.
As per the roadmap provided by Juho Sarvikas, the Nokia 9 Pureview and Nokia 7.1 should be next in line to receive Android 10 update, followed by Nokia 6.1/6.1 Plus and Nokia 7 Plus. What’s New in the Android 10 for Nokia 8.1?
The Nokia 8.1 was officially a part of the Android Q Beta Program and now it is the first HMD Android phone to get the stable Android 10 update officially. This major upgrade from Nokia has brought along some really amazing features which include -Smart Reply, Live Captions, Sound Amplifier, System-wide Dark Theme, Privacy Controls, Improved Gesture Navigation.
There are notable System improvements as well. The Android 10 OTA Update for Nokia 8.1 comes in a size of 1.4 GB and comes as V4.15B. This is now available for the Indian and European users but it may take some time, like any other OTA Update for reaching out to all the users. Right now we only have the Android 10 OTA package (zip file) for Nokia 8.1 Indian variant. In case you have a European variant and you are trying to install the below file, it will fail. Thanks to Reddit user aha7sh for sharing the link. We will share with you all the link when we get the file for the European variant.

Install Nokia 8.1 Android 10 OTA Update
Here is how you can install Nokia 8.1 Android 10 OTA Update along with the September Security Patch. Just follow the below requirements and then you can head towards the installation steps.
- Take a full backup of your device data.
- Make sure to have at least 60% battery power on your device.
- Enable USB Debugging on your Nokia 8.1.
- Download Android SDK Platform Tools.
- Or you can also download Minimal ADB and Fastboot tools.
Step 1. Download Nokia 8.1 Android 10 OTA package from the link given above on your PC.
Step 2. Now copy the downloaded OTA zip file to a folder on the PC where you have installed the ADB and Fastboot binaries.
Step 3. Press ‘Shift’ key and simultaneously right-click on an empty space inside the folder. From the menu that appears, choose ‘Open PowerShell window here’.
Step 4. Now switch off Nokia 8.1 and then hold the Volume Up and Power button simultaneously till the phone vibrates.
Step 5. As soon as the ‘No command’ screen appears, hold the Power button and press the Volume Up key once so as to enter stock recovery.
Step 6. Use Volume keys to navigate and highlight ‘Apply Update from ADB’ and then press the power button so as to select it.
Step 7. Type the below command to make sure that your Nokia 8.1 has been successfully detected by ADB –
Step 8. Enter the following command so as to install Nokia 8.1 Android 10 OTA update –
.\adb sideload PNX-415B-0-00WW-B03-update.zip
Step 9. Finally, choose ‘Reboot System Now’ when the installation finishes.
Your Nokia 8.1 will now reboot into the Upgraded Android 10 OS along with the September Security Patch. In case you come across any unusual bugs, we request you to perform a factory reset. You can do this either from the Settings or using the Stock Recovery.
