Android.Process.Media has Stopped error: Fix

How to fix Android.Process.Media has Stopped error?

Fix 1. Clear Cache and Data on Android

Cache stuffed over time could be responsible for creating errors like Android.process.media has stopped ig. Follow the below steps to clear the cache and give a shot at fixing this error.

  • Go to Settings > Apps/Application Manager> all apps.
  • Go to Google Services Framework. Tap on Clear Cache> ok.
  • Go back to All apps and go to Google Play store.
  • Tap on Clear cache> ok.
  • Now again go back to All apps and go to Google Services Framework.
  • Tap on Force Stop> Clear Cache> ok. 
  • Lastly, restart your android device.

Fix 2. Check Google Sync Settings

Before following the below steps, make sure to take a complete backup of your device data.

  • Go to Settings > Account.
  • Tap on Sync> Google.
  • Un-check all sync options for your Google account.
  • Now switch off your device and on it back after 15 to 30 seconds.

Fix 3. Reset App Preferences

  • Go to Settings > Apps/ Application Manager. 
  • Tap on Menu. Generally present at the top right side of the screen.
  • Tap on Reset App Preferences.

Fix 4.Clear Contact Cache and Storage

  • Go to Settings > Apps/ Applications Manager. 
  • Go to All Apps> Contacts. 
  • Tap on it and tap on clear cache and Clear data. 
  • Once you have cleared data on Contacts, do the same for Contacts and Dialer and Contacts Storage.

Now reboot your device and see if the Android process media stop error has been fixed or not.

Fix 5. Disable Media Storage and Download Manager

In case any of the above solutions weren’t fruitful, try disabling Media Storage and download Manager which plays a major role in “unfortunately the process android.process.media has stopped” error. 

  • Go to Settings > Apps/ Applications Manager. 
  • Go to All Apps> Download Manager and Media Storage. 
  • Tap on it and tap on clear cache and Clear data.
  • If this doesn’t work, simply disable both Media Storage and Download Manager by clicking Force Stop.

Fix 6. Update Device firmware

If your device has got an Update but you haven’t updated it yet, this might be a reason why you are facing such errors. Check if your device has got an update by following the steps below-

  • Go to device Settings> About Phone> Security Update > Check for Updates. 
  • If any update is available, tap on it to install it.

Updating your phone may or may not solve the “android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly” error, but it sure will make your device work better and get rid of any bugs.
