When we are talking about Firmware updates and their relationship with Asus devices, the picture doesn’t ever seem right. This is because Asus is not as good with firmware updates as the other competing OEMs are. However, despite of the odd past, the Asus Zenfone 6 has been a great exception in this case. Zenfone 6 also known as Asus 6Z has been receiving all the updates on time.
Talking about the August Security Updates, until now, only one Asus device – The Zenfone 6Z had received the August Security patch. But finally, Asus has got over one device and rolled out the August Security patch level for ZenFone Max M2 and ZenFone 5Q.
ZenFone Max M2 is an Asus device powered by Snapdragon 632 processor. It originally came with Android 8.0 Oreo but was later transformed into Android 9.0 Pie. Just recently today Asus had announced the August Security Update rolling out for this device with the build number – 16.2018.1908.48. This update promises to enhance the charging efficiency of the device and also introduce the long charging protection.
Here’s what the complete OTA update changelog reads –
- 2019-8 Google security patch updated
- Import Long charging protection function
- Improve charging efficiency
Now coming to the Zenfone 5Q which is also known as 5 Lite or 5 Selfie Pro, is powered by Snapdragon 430 processor. Just a few months ago this device was bumped into Android 9.0 Pie Update. As of now, the latest August Security Patch consists of a build tag – 16.0610.1908.83. As you can see the below changelog, there’s nothing much interesting or major happening here except for the Audio FW Adjust.
- Upgrade July, August security patch
- Adjust Audio FW
So that was it. Now like any other FOTA updates, these two too will take sometime to reach all the corresponding devices as they are rolled out in patches. Be patient until then and subscribe to our newsletter so as to stay updated for more such posts.
